Psychological Therapy
We are currently able to provide Psychological Assessment and Treatment Face to Face or Online
Clinical/Counselling Psychologists aim to understand the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Our aim is to provide a full psychological formulation of your situation. We train in a range of therapeutic models, including Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Re- Processing (EMDR), Systemic Psychotherapy and Psychodynamic approaches. An average initial training, before specialisation, takes around ten years.
I am currently undertaking further training in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy ISTDP. ISTDP is a short term dynamic psychotherapy which aims to alleviate mental distress and promote mental heath in a rapid and cost effective way. There is a focus on unconscious anxiety pathways, anxiety regulation and maladaptive defences. Audio-visual recording of all sessions helps to clarify exactly what is being activated in the patient and this makes treatment more effective and time efficient.
Clinical/Counselling Psychologists offer potential help in relation to difficulties such as: Anxiety, Attachment, Adjustment, Behavioural Problems, Bereavement, Depression, Emotional Distress, Family Dynamics, Personal Injury, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Work related difficulties.
We work in partnership with our clients, agreeing therapeutic goals and timescales together. Our ethical code means that we are bound by confidentiality and cannot share information we are given by clients without their consent, unless a person is at risk.
